1. Surfing Efficiency
If you do a lot of web surfing like we do here, then you'll appreciate this tip. Once you get it into practice you'll use it all the time. Next time you type in a keyword/phrase search on the results page simply [RIGHT-Click] and select: Open In A New Window. Now you will be able to easily go back and forth between your variable search criteria you are managing at any give time.
2. iPad Application ($4.99): Sound Paper
http://soundpaperapp.com
SoundPaper is the best way to take notes on your iPad. It tracks what you type and draw while recording audio, so you'll never worry about missing an important detail. While playing back your recording, just tap a word; SoundPaper will jump right to that point in the audio. Email your notes or recording or both for your particular needs; great tool for students, those attending meetings etc.

RootCellar - TidBytes: Training Bytes - BLOG Mistakes
by Margaret Root on 07/15/10
Blogging gets easier with practice. The more you blog, the easier it becomes but be prepared to make some common mistakes along the way. Some of the common mistakes people make when blogging are described below.
- Expect people to read your blog. It takes a lot of time and effort to establish a popular blog. Don't expect people to read your blog just because you posted it.
- Lecture readers. The real magic of blogging happens when people comment on what you have written. However, writing in a way that sounds like you are lecturing does not encourage people to comment. When you write, use your own voice and involve readers in your discussions.
- Ignore headlines. Headlines are what catch people’s attention. If you want people to stop and read your blog, you need to create catchy headlines.
- Blog without purpose. If you don’t have anything to blog about, don’t blog for the sake of blogging. Save your blog for another day when you do have something you want to share with people.
Good Morning!
by Margaret Root on 07/15/10Actually, for me its time to turn in (4:30 AM) PDT. I've been up adding to our new club web site; Networking Entrepreneurial Women of Marin (www.NEWofMarin.com) the guests who attended Tuesdays meeting at the Il Fornaio restaurant; hopefully we won't outgrow them for awhile, and adding the new members, plus customizing the photos I took for our directory, and not least getting the group emails out. All administrative and time consuming!
Photo Album-Set: N.E.W. of Marin
http://www.flickr.com/photos/11339092@N04/sets/72157624490435236/
I'm also working on updating the directory for my high school class; Mount Baker High School, Deming, WA -- Class of 1965. It's our 45th reunion this year, and I'm coordinating/doing the admin all from down here in CA. Thank Gawd for flat rate long distance and the internet!! We have a bunch of gypsies in my class :O)
Tomorrow is going to be another busy day. I have a job applicant coming in to assist with site maintenance, some more sites to work on, and of course the "Doggie Park" with Heidi Ho! or she won't speak to me for hours.
This weekend I started drafting another site: www.OurRootCellar.com
Something I've been going to work on for some time. I get a lot of calls here from people just wanting to do show & tell on items they want to get rid of; new and used products. They don't want a web site, or to learn eBay, nor deal with all the emails that can get generated from doing Craig's list who want the lowest "deals", so maybe this will help. First in this week is antique marine/nautical items from an estate sale - high quality, low quantity -- they can be found on this page: www.OurRootCellar.com/estatesales.html
RootCellar - TidBytes: Training - OutLook-Delivery Receipt

Tip: OutLook E-Mail Message Delivery Receipt
To have Outlook 2007 request a delivery receipt for a message you are composing:
- Go to the Options tab in the message's ribbon toolbar.
- Make sure Request a Delivery Receipt is checked.
- You can also check Request a Read Receipt to ask for notification when a message has been opened (as opposed to merely delivered).

Its rare I take time to just work on our own web site; busman's holiday syndrome? I've written articles over the years, updating from time to time about search engines. Today, I finally found my way to this one: http://www.designcarte.com/library-seo-sem1.html
There's some good factual information in these pages, abbreviated down the best I can do. These pages just may be helpful to other web designers and web site owners, or the curious.

Gave me a good jump start on my day this Monday morning. I'm working away while listening -- great mood setter.

Today is one of the those great days to catch up on some reading; pouring buckets and the wind is blowing. I can see white caps through my window on the channel!
Below are some of my notes from filtering through magazines, and RSS feed printouts. I can barely jam more reading in myself, so if this is your MO too, then you'll appreciate what you see below. It's "shorthand" in comparison to what I've culled through today.

Day's Summary: Best Made Plans ...
by Margaret Root on 03/30/10
Meetings/Presentations/Trainings/Personal Occasions: First you have a plan. You create, print, assemble whatever materials/media you may need to support those attending; you might even clean up the office, home, or make a special treat, beverage for your attendees. Don't all professionals? Don't all individuals who have "intention" behind their words? And then the day of your event, you shake your head in disappointment while you watch the "reality show" unfold.
First you deal with those who can NEVER get where they are supposed to be on time; and think it's ok I might add if they arrive late. What applies to others definitely shouldn't and doesn't it seems apply to them. These are the folks who believe disrupting the training, or meeting due to their tardiness should be perfectly acceptable for whatever reason/explanation has been brought along in tow to present to the others who did make it on time, and in fact, many of which arrive early enough to be ready at the exact hour stipulated. Would it surprise anyone that these same tardy people are also the ones who create an additional disruption with "OMG I really must go now?"
Would it surprise anyone that these same people are the ones that say: "I'll call you!", "I'll be right over!" "I'll be right back!" "I'll send you the information we discussed!", "I'll call to schedule an appointment!", and rarily if ever do?
And, you continue to allow them into your life - space because?
